"The next three decades are the most critical years that should be seized by people. As new technologies will be integrated into every aspect of traditional industries, wherever you are, and whoever you are, every one of us will be a part of this great change," Ma said.

He said the next three decades will not be dominated by internet companies, but by enterprises, countries and young people that can "make good use of the internet technology.

Robin Li, chairman and CEO of Baidu Inc, delivered a speech at the plenary session of the third WIC Wednesday, saying it is no longer possible for a unicorn to appear in mobile internet market.

"As the penetration rate of internet has exceeded 50 percent, the market's development has entered a relative stable stage," Li said.

Li, mentioning artificial intelligence (AI)'s application in Baidu's driverless vehicle, internet of things (IoT), and automatic translation service, said he is excited every time when he thinks about the possibilities that AI may bring to everyone, every industry and every country.

"The era of AI will bring great changes, which means we need to re-imagine everything, every industry and every market," he said.

Pony Ma, chairman and CEO of Tencent Holdings Ltd, said to media during the third WIC that Chinese internet industry's development has distinct Chinese characteristics.

"In the long march to build China into an internet power, Chinese internet companies should not just be a spectator but have the responsibility to contribute their powers," he said.

"There are many Chinese mobile internet products and services leading in the world. As recent media reports, even Silicon Valley has begun to learn from innovations in Chinese internet."

Ma said Chinese market is large and deep enough for internet companies to focus on and he is confident that Chinese companies are competitive players in international mobile internet market.

Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi Corp, has predicted that artificial intelligence (AI) will be the next technological turning point of the internet economy.

"AI is leading innovations in a variety of fields and all directions. One or two years later, there will be successful AI products emerging in the Chinese market," he said.

Speaking at the third World Internet Conference, Lei said smartphones would need to integrate a large number of AI technologies.

"The smartphone is a high tech product, which is why there are only a few companies in the world that can do well making smartphones," he said.

Lei said China's internet development had been world-class and it was now leading the world in many fields, especially in mobile internet innovation.
